Cortona Media AAA “93.5 WRNR” 810 WYRE/93.5 W228ER Annapolis MD is seeing a change in ownership and the launch of its airstaff.
The brand, which relaunched on FM in June, following the sale of the former 103.1 WRNR-FM in 2022, is seeing former lead owner Steve Kingston transfer his stake to partner Kirk Litton and Jay Stevens. Litton previously owned Midlands Media in Columbia SC. Stevens formerly served as SVP/Programming Content for Radio One from 2007-18 preceded by sixteen years at CBS Radio as VP/Programming overseeing WPGC Washington DC and other stations. Stevens commented, ““My dream has always been to own a radio station and appreciate Kirk offering me this opportunity. I still believe in live and local radio, and now have my chance with the legendary, highly respected WRNR”.
The station has also added its first two personalities to the new incarnation. ‘Dave Z’ Ziemer will host mornings from 7am to 12pm. Ziemer began his career as Commercial Production Director at Alternative 99.1 WHFS Annapolis before being one the producers at the launch of XM Satellite Radio in 2000 where he also programmed “Cinemagic” and later served as Director of Comedy and Entertainment for SiriusXM. He later spent time at the original WRNR-FM.
Neci Williams joins as afternoon host from 2-7pm. Neci worked at WHFS from 1983 until its demise in 2005 and then remained at CBS Radio Baltimore until 2022 where she held roles at multiple relaunches of the Alternative brand and hosted nights at Hot AC “Mix 106.5” WWMX.
