The Jeffrey Guerriero led Warrior Media LLC closed on its $450,000 purchase of Stephens Media Group’s Monroe LA cluster on Friday and immediately made multiple format and staff changes.
Rock “Rock 106” KXRR Monroe has flipped to Adult R&B “Magic 106.1“. Positioning as “Monroe’s R&B & Throwback Station”, the new format creates an in-market competitor to The Radio People’s “Mix 101.9” KMVX.
The Rock format has moved to what was Rhythmic CHR “103.1 Now-FM” KNNW Columbia as “103 Rocks“. The move brings the Rock brand back to the frequency where it originated on in 2001 before moving first to 92.3 and then 106.1 the following year. Robert ‘DJ Worm’ Jarvis, who previously worked at KXRR from 2017-2022 returns as Program Director and morning host for “103 Rocks“.
AC “Sunny 98.3” KZRZ West Monroe gets a new on-air lineup as the station adds the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, while Eddie Reid returns to the station to host afternoons.
Former market personality Mike Karstendiek has joined the company as General Manager with Brian Matthews joining as Sales Manager. Taurian ‘T-Lay’ Collins remains with the cluster as Operations Manager and will program KXRR.
The company also owns Country “92.3 The Wolf” KMYY Rayville, where Karstendiek says a revamp will be coming next week as “We are going to do county music right.”
