The loss of a transmitter site will lead to a programming shuffle at iHeartMedia Williamsport PA on Monday, August 4.
As first indicated in our 7/29 Domain Insight report, iHeartMedia’s “Rock 94.9” 1200 WRKK Hughesville/94.9 W235BA Williamsport filed an STA with the FCC noting that its landlord has withdrawn availability of the transmitter site forcing its translator to go silent. In order to retain the Rock brand, it will relocate on Monday to 95.5 WBYL Salladasburg/Williamsport as “Rock 95.5“.
That will replace half of the Country “Bill 95” simulcast, while the format will remain on 95.3 WBLJ-FM Shamokin/Sunbury. The move will leave Backyard Broadcasting’s market leading 105.1 WILQ Williamsport as the only current based Country outlet targeting the Williamsport market.
WRKK had a 2.1 share in the just released Spring 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings. WBYL/WBLJ had a 4.1 share, which trailed WILQ’s 15.5.
