iHeartMedia’s “SportsTalk 790” KBME Houston will debut “The Morning Drive” hosted by Dan Mathews and Cole Thompson from 6-10am on Monday, November 24.
The new show fills the opening created by Sean Salisbury’s exit in iHeart’s nationwide cuts in October.
Mathews had been serving as Salisbury’s producer and co-host. He joined KBME in 2023 serving as a producer for the station’s afternoon and evening shows before moving to mornings. The Houston native previously worked at 610 KILT from 2009-12 before spending many years in Atlanta at 92.9 WZGC and 680 WCNN as a host, reporter, and doing play-by-play.
Thompson moves up to mornings from serving as producer for KBME’s “The A Team” afternoon show and hosting “The Night Cap” from 6-7pm. He joined the station last year after previously hosting shows for SportsMap Radio and “SEC Unfiltered”.
Program Director Chris Gordy said, “We’re thrilled to add Cole to mornings, alongside Dan. Both guys eat, sleep and breathe all things Houston sports, and bring a passion and enthusiasm to kick off each morning right.”
