Eric & Julianne Worden Exit Sinclair Norfolk

Eric Worden 93.7 Bob-FM WNOB NorfolkHusband and wife Eric and Julianne Worden have both exited Sinclair Communications Norfolk VA in a round of budget cuts.

Eric Worden has hosted mornings across the market since arriving from Seattle in 1993. During his time he has been heard at AAA “93.7 The Coast” WKOC, Classic Rock “106.9 The Fox” WAFX, Hot AC “94.9 The Point” WPTE, AAA “102.1 The Tide” WXTG, and in two stints at Variety Hits “93.7 Bob-FM” WNOB. The second generation broadcaster began his career at his father’s KRSB Roseberg OR and later worked in Portland and Seattle before arriving in Norfolk.

Alternative “96X” WROX-FM PD/afternoon host Nick Chappell will add mornings at WNOB.

Julianne Worden has been with the company since 1988 and had most recently serving in the dual role of General Sales Manager for the cluster and Program Director for the combo of News/Talk 790 WNIS and “Talkradio 850/96.5” WTAR/W243EK.

In a Facebook video, Eric said, “I want to tell you guys how much I appreciate the amazing support, personal support, that you as a group have given me. And Jules too. Combined, we have had 60 years of service to this radio station group.”

A Sinclair spokesperson told WAVY-TV, “In a fragmented and challenging media landscape, sometimes difficult decisions must be made by management, and yesterday we were forced to offer early retirement plans to several employees. These decisions were purely financial and not based on performance. Again this was a budgetary decision, and we appreciate their years of dedication to our company and wish them well in the future.”
