Morning host Tarsha ‘Miss’ Jones and syndicated evening host Ed Lover have exited Audacy Rhythmic Throwbacks “94.7 The Block” WXBK Newark NJ/New York.
Lover originally joined Audacy’s “104.3 Jams” WBMX Chicago as morning host in April 2018. He would start pulling double-duty on WXBK in March 2022. Later that year Audacy would begin syndicating his show internally moving it to nights in Chicago, while adding it in middays on “Hot 103.7” KHTP Seattle and nights on “102 Jams” KRBQ San Francisco and “Q100.5” KXQQ Las Vegas. Skyview Networks inked a deal to manage ad sales and affiliate sales in February 2024.
Prior to joining Audacy, Lover was best known for co-hosting mornings at Hip Hop “Hot 97” WQHT from 1993 to 1999 and then helping to launch “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM in 2002 with co-host Doctor Dre. The duo also hosted Yo! MTV Raps and worked at KKBT Los Angeles, while Lover by himself also hosted for SiriusXM and anchored an Atlanta based syndicated show for Radio One from 2015 until the end of 2017.
Jones began hosting mornings at WXBK in August 2022. A former R&B singer, she began her radio career at WQHT as part of the “Star & Buc Wild” morning show before moving to Radio One’s “103.9 The Beat” WPHI Philadelphia to team with Michael Shawn. They would then return to WQHT as morning hosts in 200 and were syndicated back to Philadelphia on then “100.3 The Beat” before exiting both stations in July 2008. The duo then hosted mornings at iHeart’s “Power 99” WUSL Philadelphia from 2009 to 2011.
The exits of Jones and Lover conveniently coincide with the departure of “Ebro in the Morning” from MediaCo Hip Hop “Hot 97” WQHT. Are they about to cross the block?
