Following the final “The Big Show with John Boy & Billy” on Friday, December 19, Audacy’s “Classic Rock 101” WROQ Anderson/Greenville SC will be changing formats.
The company has not yet indicated what it will be flipping to. Jay ‘Stoneman’ Stone, who serves as Program Director and midday host at WROQ and APD at Rock “93.3 The Planet” WTPT, will move to afternoons at WTPT starting Friday at 3:00pm. Afternoons on WTPT are currently tracked by KRXQ Sacramento morning host Paul ‘Neanderpaul’ Marshall.
Stone, who joined WROQ in 2003 following ten years at KGGO Des Moines wrote, “I’ve spent decades sharing music, stories, and life with you on Classic Rock 101.1. Now I’m packing up my shelves—my favorite CDs, albums, the ones we’ve lived through together—and I’m taking them to 93.3 The Planet this Friday at 3. Classic Rock 101.1 is going away… but our connection doesn’t have to. I’d be honored if you’d make the move with me. Thank you for being such an unforgettable part of my life.”
WROQ ranked seventh in the Greenville/Spartanburg ratings trending down 5.5 – 5.2 – 4.6 in the October Nielsen Audio Ratings. WTPT was ninth sliding 5.2 – 4.8 – 3.4.
