After announcing its $465,000 acquisition of Oldies “Fonz AM” 1290 WZTI Greenfield and Country “Froggy MKE” 100.3 W262CJ Milwaukee/107.3 W297BY Franklin WI from Milwaukee Radio Alliance, Civic Media has announced its plans for the stations when it plans to take over via LMA on Wednesday, September 17.
The launches are pending equipment installation and engineering coordination to repair the damaged transmitter that took WZTI silent last month following flood damage.
WZTI and W297BY will begin simulcasting Full Service Oldies 1400 WRJN/99.9 W260CV Racine and 98.1 W251BU Kenosha expanding that station’s coverage into Milwaukee giving the station coverage on AM from Waukegan IL to Sheboygan WI and FM from Kenosha to Oak Creek.
100.3 W262CJ will be transferred to rebroadcast Liberal Talk 540 WAUK Jackson/101.1 W266BR Waukesha to better cover downtown Milwaukee and its eastern suburbs.
Civic Media Regional President Chris Moreau said, “We’re thrilled to expand our presence in Milwaukee, our largest metro market. These acquisitions allow us to better serve listeners across southeastern Wisconsin with our commitment to local news coverage and quality programming. The extended coverage area creates exciting opportunities for both our audience and advertising partners.”
VP/Programming Aaron Carreno commented, “We’re working on some exciting enhancements to further improve the WAUK listening experience that we’ll share when they’re ready. Our goal is to provide Milwaukee area listeners with the local focus and familiar programming they’ve come to expect from Civic Media.”
