Domain Insight 6/21: Filling Out A Wichita Cluster

As Murfin Media’s My Town Media Inc. continues to build out their new Wichita cluster, details are coming out for the company’s plans for the five stations they acquired for $1.18 million in the bankruptcy auction for Rocking M Media’s properties last fall.

My Town Media relaunched Variety Hits “97.1 Bob-FM” KBOB-FM Haven in late May. The “Bob-FM” brand had been heard on the former KIBB beginning in 2008 though the collapse of the previous cluster sale to Allied Media Partners in September 2019. The station has been mostly silent or running filler programming since then.

The remainder of the stations are set to launch their new formats by the end of the month. The Wichita Eagle reports that 100.5 KVWF Augusta will join My Town’s network of “My Country” branded stations. The stations feature a mix of Country and Red Dirt Country music.

The Sumner Newscow adds that 1130 KLEY/100.3 K262CQ Wellington will carry Red Dirt Country with farm news and local high school sports. Murfin Media President Mark Yearout told the Newscow that 1550 KKLE Winfield will launch a nationally focused Bluegrass format built around the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival, which is held in Winfield every September.
