FCC Report 8/4: Bronx Pirate Receives Maximum $2,316,034 Fine

Pirate Actions
The FCC has issued a maximum $2,316,034 penalty against Johnny Peralta for operating “La Mia Radio” on 105.7 in the Bronx NY. The fine was first proposed in November 2023 stating that the station had been operating since 2018. Peralta failed to respond to the Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture with the commission adopting their findings as final.

FCC Actions
The Media Bureau has granted a petition for a declaratory ruling to allow Amar Broadcasting to exceed the 25% foreign ownership limit to purchase BAAZ Broadcasting’s 1680 KNTS Seattle. The deal will see Sukhdev Dhillon increase his stake in the station from 20% to 100% buying out partner Mohan Cheema for $70,000.

License Cancellations

Ted Schoeber’s Zip2 LLC has requested the cancellation of 850 WKGE Johnstown PA due to financial issues. The company also advised the FCC that their CP for 104.5 W283DN Harrisburg PA should have been cancelled in 2021 when their CP for 850 WXPA Enola expired unbuilt as it was to be paired with the AM.

Holy Family Communications has requested the cancellation of 88.5 WRRS Bayview/New Bedford MA coinciding with the completion of the upgrade of co-owned 88.5 WPMW Middleborough Center.
