Su Harrison leaves Essex breakfast slot after 24 years with Martin Day

Su Harrison is leaving Radio Essex breakfast after 24 years since starting on the radio with Martin Day.

Martin and Su were first put together on Essex FM in 2000, before the station was rebranded to Heart in 2009.
Due to networking at local radio stations and cuts, Martin and Su were then left without a home in May 2019 before Radio Essex signed them up.
PD Chris Brooks told RadioToday that Radio Essex has a new line up for 2025. He said: “Martin Day will continue to wake up Essex but with a newly formatted show, other changes to the schedule include Jack Burke from 10am, the 1pm slot will be filled by Lauren Underwood and Chris Brooks continues at drive with Joe Kinch on evenings.
“Chris and Scott will be kicking off the weekend from Friday at 4pm, and listeners will continue to be entertained by Ross and John every Saturday and Sunday morning, followed by Conor Knight at 10am.
“This does however mean that Su Harrison will be leaving the station. Su has been a valued member of the Radio Essex team for many years and we will miss her voice on the airwaves.
“We are excited to bring the new schedule to life, and of course wish Su all the best in her next chapter.”

kmfm’s Give A Gift Campaign delivers over sixteen thousand toys

kmfm’s annual Give A Gift toy appeal has taken delivery of over 16,000 items to help local kids.

This year, the campaign added a new dimension with a JustGiving page, providing a more convenient way to donate.
The messages left by donors included children giving their pocket money, businesses contributing, and many sharing sentiments like, “I know this isn’t much, but I want to help.”
The initial fundraising goal of £3,000 quickly became a distant memory as donations poured in, culminating in £12,659 being raised.
Last week, kmfm’s team of Christmas elves delivered toys to 18 different locations, including hospitals, care facilities, and charities. Deliveries to two additional locations are planned this week.
In total, over 16,200 toys were collected and distributed this year—an achievement that surpasses all expectations.
Rob Wills, kmfm Programme Controller, shared: “The generosity of our listeners and local businesses has completely blown us away. Together, we’ve made a tangible difference to children who need it most, ensuring they feel the magic of Christmas.
“From everyone at kmfm and Hendy, thank you for your incredible kindness and support.”
