Darren Revell Big Sonic Heaven 101.9 WDET-FM DetroitWayne State University Public News/Talk/Variety 101.9 WDET-FM Detroit is bringing Darren Revell’s “Big Sonic Heaven” back to the local market.

The show previously aired in Detroit on 96.3 WPLT from 1995 to 2003 and was later resurrected in Los Angeles on “Indie 103.1” KDLD/KDLE from 2007-09. Revell later resurrected the show as a music blog, podcast, and since 2020 as a streaming station. The show will air on Sunday nights from 9pm to 12am featuring new and classic shoegaze, dream pop, brit pop, trip hop, and electronic music.

The show replaces rebroadcasts of the Don Was Motor City Playlist and Sound Opinions and is part of additional music programming changes. The rebroadcast of Motor City Playlist will move to Mondays from 10pm-12am in place of a rebroadcast of Acoustic Café. The station has also added a rebroadcast of the Jazz focused “Kaleigh Wilder’s Visions” on Saturdays from 8-10pm following its original airing on Mondays in that timeslot. “The New Music Show” hosted by Shigeto that had aired in that timeslot has come to an end.
