Beasley Media Group has turned in the license for 102.7 WGUS-FM New Ellenton SC/Augusta GA as it hit the one year deadline to resume operations.
WGUS-FM was one of many stations whose facilities were significantly damaged by Hurricane Helene in September 2024 with its tower being toppled by the storm. It had been operating as Soft AC “Sunny 102.7” since August 2020 after a long run with Southern Gospel until Helene arrived.
It its the second Augusta area rimshot FM license that Beasley has lost this year. 93.1 WCHZ-FM Warrenton GA was cancelled by the FCC in June after going silent in January 2024 when the company sold that station’s tower site.
Beasley continues to operate five brands in Augusta: News/Talk 580 WGAC/95.1 WGAC-FM, Variety Hits “93.9 Bob-FM” WDRR, CHR “HD 98.3” WHHD, Country “Kicks 99.5” WKXC-FM, and Rhythmic Throwbacks “Hot 97.7” W249EF/WHHD-HD2.
