What Classic Hits Personality Should Sound Like

If there’s any place on the radio where I want to hear strong on-air personality, it’s Classic Hits. All formats have their own personality legacies, and I’m happy when I hear a through-line. Classic Hits, however, has the extra weight of playing songs that you heard as part of a great radio experience. Somebody worked to make “Every Breath You Take” interesting over and over in 1983; I really appreciate when they do that in 2025. […]

The shortlist for the IMRO Radio Awards 2025 has been announced, recognising presenters, producers and stations across the Irish radio industry.
The winners will be revealed at a ceremony on Friday 3 October at the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny. The awards celebrate the creativity, talent and innovation that continues to drive Irish radio.

The bar is continually raised in terms of quality, so heartiest congratulations to all those shortlisted.”
Eleanor McEvoy, IMRO Chairperson, highlighted the wider role of the medium. “Radio remains one of the most powerful and influential mediums in our society. Nick Hancock steps down as Breakfast Presenter and Creative Director at Your Harrogate

Your Harrogate’s breakfast presenter and Creative Director, Nick Hancock, is set to leave the station after five years.

Nick co-founded the business in 2020 with Commercial Director Adam Daniel, initially launching Your Harrogate as a local news and lifestyle website. Responding to demand for a hyper-local radio service, Your Harrogate Radio went live in March 2021, adding DAB coverage across North Yorkshire in February 2022.
Since launch, Nick has overseen content strategy and growth across the group. This included the acquisition of Rombalds Radio in 2022, which has since been rebranded as Your Skipton and Your Ilkley to extend the group’s footprint across North and West Yorkshire. Nick presented the breakfast show across all three stations with bespoke content for each area.
Reflecting on his departure, Nick Hancock said: “It has never really felt like a job to be honest, more like coming to work to talk to your friends. Every single day I’ve looked forward to getting on the radio and talking about all the great things happening in our areas. I have loved every second and am extremely grateful to all the local businesses for their brilliant support and all the listeners for tuning in. I will miss it all a lot.”
Before setting up Your Harrogate, Nick was programme controller and breakfast presenter for UKRD’s Stray FM.
Adam Daniel now takes a majority controlling share in the company and its portfolio of stations. He said: “It’s been an amazing five years working alongside Nick and I’m so grateful for his support since we launched Your Harrogate and then expanded to Skipton and Ilkley. Everyone here wishes him all the best for the future.”
He added: “The business has flourished in just five years and it’s in a fantastic place moving forward. Our stations continue to be the place to turn for the latest news, weather and traffic news – as well as half price deals and competitions. We’ve got a great team who are ready to step up to support the next phase of our development across programming, content and commercial and we have an exciting future ahead.”
