After two and a half years hosting mornings at Georgia Radio Alliance Classic Hits “Fox-FM“, ‘Southside Steve’ Rickman and producer/co-host Geoff Fox have exited the station.
Rickman joined the station in May 2023 after previously working at Cumulus Media’s “Rock 100.5” WNNX Atlanta from 2008 until its demise at the end of 2022. During that time he hosted mornings as part of the “Regular Guys” and later “Bailey & Southside” and “Axel & Southside” until moving to afternoons in February 2022. He was also part of morning and afternoon shows at “96 Rock” WKLS from 1995 to 2006 and briefly at Country 106.7 WYAY in 2006-07. Cole previously was morning show producer at WKLS and Country “94.9 The Bull” WUBL and then weekend/fill-in host at Cox Classic Rock “97.1 The River” WSRV.
Georgia Radio Alliance VP/Programming Kevin Steele said, “During his tenure, Southside Steve brought his signature personality, humor, and high-energy broadcasts to listeners throughout Middle Georgia and Metro Atlanta. Fox-FM appreciates the commitment and effort he dedicated to the morning show during this time.”
President Chris Murray commented, “As we move into 2026, FOX-FM is making strategic changes to strengthen our on-air presentation with a more music focused morning show to better serve our growing audience. We are grateful for the work Steve and Geoff have done and wish them both the very best in their future endeavors.”
Rickman posted on Facebook, “Truth is I was Rug Pulled 100% being let go from Fox-FM! I never wanna see it coming because that means I’m not giving 100% to what I’m doing. I was told I was too expensive and the station couldn’t afford my show. Ownership wants to have a music morning DJ/Show with very little talk and I won’t entertain that type of terrestrial radio. We (The Southside Ride) will address this tomorrow and put it out on socials and let you know what’s next.. I read all comments good or bad and appreciate the times that I’ve met listeners or fans of the shows I’ve been on. Those movements mean more than you know..”
The station will announced updated morning programming in the coming weeks. “Fox-FM” is heard 1260 WMDG/100.1 W261DL East Point/Atlanta, 102.1 W271CV Atlanta, 1090 WBAF/104.5 W285FK Barnesville, 1370 WFDR/97.3 W247CJ Manchester, 94.7 W234CQ Macon/WFXM-HD2 Gordon and 95.5 W238CG Warner-Robins.
