
Privately-owned Radio Mahal in Afghanistan’s Logar province has launched an education programme called “Voice of School” for students.
In a meeting organized by the station, its head Khan Wali Ahmadzai said that the initiative will cover about 2,000 students in Logar, Wardag Square, Paktia and some districts of Kabul.
Through this programme, thousands of students from remote cities, districts and regions will learn Holy Quran, Pashto, Dari and English.
Chief of Information and Culture of Logar Province, Molvi Faizullah Johari, religious scholar Mufti Wahidullah Wahaj, Commander of Publications of Directorate of Information and Culture Hamidullah Siddiqui, along with dozens of religious scholars, ethnic elders, youth and Radio Mahal staff also participated in the meeting.
Mawlawi Faizullah Johari expressed gratitude to the officials of the radio for providing students with the opportunity to learn through radio broadcasts.
He explained a radio was an easy and inexpensive tool though which men and women could gain knowledge at home in a short period of time.
Mufti Wahidullah Wahaj said that Mahal radio has initiated a nationwide educational innovation and called on international organisations and the government to support this initiative.
Ahmadzai appreciated the directorate of information and culture of Logar province, scholars, ethnic elders and youth who have supported Radio Mahal.
