The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand is reporting that Craig Carton will return to the daily schedule at Audacy Sports 660 WFAN/101.9 WFAN-FM New York in January as part of a significant lineup revamp.
Carton has been hosting the weekly “Hello My Name Is Craig” about gambling addiction on Saturday mornings since exiting afternoons in June 2023 for a short-lived morning show on cable’s FS1. Carton originally joined WFAN in 2007 to host mornings with Boomer Esiason until resigning in September 2017 following his arrest by the FBI. After serving twelve months of a 36-42 month sentence on three federal charges of securities fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud, Carton returned to WFAN in 2020 to join Evan Roberts in afternoons. Prior to joining WFAN in 2007, Carton co-hosted afternoons at “New Jersey 101.5” WKXW Trenton and also worked at WGR Buffalo, WWWE Cleveland, KKFN and KBPI Denver, WIP Philadelphia, and WNEW-FM New York. While awaiting sentencing he briefly hosted on FNTSY Sports Network.
The report states that Roberts and current co-host Tiki Barber will move to middays replacing Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata. Carton will be joined by a new co-host with Marchand noting that current overnight host Chris McMonigle is considered the leading candidate. WFAN also has a night opening to fill following Keith McPherson’s departure a couple weeks ago.
