Longtime Chicago morning personality Joe ‘JoBo” Colburn passed away today at the age of 70.

Colburn, was best known as one half of the “Eddie & JoBo” show with Eddie Volkman on CHR “B96” WBBM-FM Chicago from 1988 until 2008 outside of a seventh month stretch in 1994 where they were fired and then rehired. They then spent a brief time togteher in mornings at sister Classic Hits “K-Hits 104.3” WJMK. During their 1994 hiatus from Chicago, the duo hosted mornings at “Q102” WIOQ Philadelphia.

WGN-TV reports that Colburn was found after officers in Freeport IL responded to his home, but no cause of death was shared.

Volkman, who hosts mornings at Connoisseur Media Hot AC “Star 96.7” WSSR Joliet, told WGN-TV, “I only got the news from his family when I got home from work today. I am devastated and an emotional wreck. They are investigating and will have more to tell us tomorrow. Heaven gained a golden voice today.”
