Albuquerque has received a new entrant into the Holiday music fray this year as American General Media Hot AC “Mix 105.1” KKRG-FM Santa Fe made the switch on Friday, November 21.
KKRG-FM, which relaunched in June with an emphasis on 1990s/2000s Hits, gives Cumulus Media AC “Magic 99.5” KMGA a direct competitor for Christmas music. KMGA began its annual Holiday music run on Thursday morning.
Many stations in Albuquerque have utilized Christmas music ahead of post-Holiday format changes in recent years. KKRG-FM did so in 2017 as “Santa 105.1” ahead of the original launch of “Mix 105.1“. iHeartMedia did so on 100.9 K265CA/KZRR-HD2 in 2013 and 2018 and on 1350 KABQ in 2021.
