Oldies Preservation Society closed on its purchase of Jazz 89.5 KEWU-FM Spokane WA and moved its Oldies “Kool 107.1” programming to its new signal on October 1.
After simulcasting for the month of October, 107.1 KPKL Deer Park/Spokane switched to Christmas music on November 1 still using the “Kool 107.1“, while KEWU-FM is running the Oldies format as “Kool 89.5“.
Oldies Preservation Society acquired 89.5 KEWU-FM from Eastern Washington University for $510,000 plus $300,000 in publicity and advertising credit. The owner of KPKL, Bob Anthony Fogel, is on the board of Oldies Preservation Society, with the Oldies format launching following his purchase of KPKL in 2012.
