88.1 St. Louis Update: KDHX Brand Ends & Stunting With Jams

88.1 KDHX St. LouisGateway Creative Broadcasting has begun operating 88.1 KLJT St. Louis (formerly KDHX) following its $8.75 million acquisition of the station from Double Helix Corporation.

The operator of Christian AC “99.1 Joy-FM” KLJY and Christian Hip Hop “Boost 95.5” KXBS is currently simulcasting the Rhythmic Hot AC “95.5 Jams” programming heard on KXBS-HD2. The same programming aired on 95.5 ahead of the launch of Boost in January 2021.

While the seller was going to relaunch KDHX on 88.1 HD2, that no longer appears to be the plan. The station had ended live programming in January when it eliminated all of its volunteer content production roles.

Now a statement on the staion’s website says “KDHX, a program of Double Helix, has ceased operations. Double Helix still owns and operates our building and studios in the Grand Center arts district, and we are excited to continue our mission of building community in a twenty-first-century emergent media landscape.” A newsletter to donors said it does not plan on producing any programs until late 2026 or early 2027 but also did not specify in what form.

Meanwhile a group of former hosts and producers now operating as “Love of Community Radio STL” has opened temporary facilities as it hopes to launch a streaming station by the end of the year.
