K-Love Arrives In Birmingham, Tampa & Expands In Las Vegas

Educational Media Foundation K-Love KLoveK-Love Inc. has completed its acquisitions of stations in Birmingham AL and Tampa FL, while adding an additional signal in Las Vegas.

The Christian AC “K-Love” brand launched today on 97.3 WKVV (formerly WPYA) Gardendale/Birmingham AL. The organization agreed to purchase then CHR “Today’s Hits 97.3” from SummitMedia in July for $2.6 million. The move upgrades the network from its current 99 watt translator signal on 96.1 W241AI Gorgas to 97.3’s Class C2 facility.

K-Love made its entry into the Tampa Bay market on Monday when it closed on the $8 million purchase of the former Classic Rock “98.7 The Shark” WPBB Holmes Beach from Beasley Media Group. Tampa had been the largest market that the network had not yet entered.

Earlier this month, K-Love added a third signal in Las Vegas on Obidia Porras’ 87.7 KLVG-LD Las Vegas. The “Franken-FM” was previously Dance “Club 87.7” KGHD-LD. It joins translator 95.1 K236BM Las Vegas covering the southeastern part of the market and 91.1 KVKL Las Vegas rimshotting from the south. Those signals combined for a mere 0.4 share in the August 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings.
