Justin Johnson Rises To WIYY Program Director As Rick Strauss Retires

Justin Johnson 98 Rock WIYY Baltimore WEBNHearst Rock “98 Rock” WIYY Baltimore has promoted Justin Johnson to Program Director effective September 1.

Johnson, who has served as APD since July 2023, succeeds the retiring Rick Strauss. He previously programmed iHeartMedia Rock 102.7 WEBN and Alternative “The Project 100.7/106.3” WEBN-HD2 Cincinnati and served as National Programming Group Rock Brand Coordinator for iHeartMedia. Johnson has also held on-air roles as co-host of “The Hideout” first at WJFK Washingtonand then WTKS-FM Orlando and as producer for “The Kidd Chris Show” at WKLS Atlanta and “The Ron & Fez Show” at WJFK Washington.

Strauss has programmed WIYY since 2015 after a previous tenure leading the station from 1994 to 2002. He has also programmed WMGK Philadelphia and WZZO Allentown and was Senior Director of National Programming Platforms for Clear Channel.
