Absolute Radio’s Ultimate Britpop Anthem, as voted for by listeners, is Pulp’s Common People.
The band also secured a second place in the top five with Disco 2000, which landed at number five.
Oasis are at fourth with Live Forever, while Blur’s Parklife took third place and The Verve reached second with Bittersweet Symphony.
The countdown began at 9am this morning with Ben Burrell and concluded just before 6pm when Richie Firth revealed the number one track.
Speaking after the result, Richie said: “This result shows the enduring quality of a song which was released 30 years ago but which still sounds as fresh today.
“Seeing crowds of all ages sing it live on Pulp’s recent tour demonstrates why it is now officially the greatest Britpop anthem of all-time.”
