1120 KMOX Marks 11/20 For Centennial Celebration

1120 104.1 KMOX St. Louis 100th anniversaryAudacy News/Talk 1120 KMOX St. Louis/104.1 KMOX-FM Hazelwood is marking its centennial today as it celebrates 11/20 as “KMOX Day” with the recognition of 12 “station pioneers”.

With ten plus hours of special programming today from 8am to 6:30pm, the station is honoring former KMOX General Manager Robert Hyland, sports broadcaster Bob Costas, former station hosts Jack Carney, Rex Davis, Bob Hardy, Anne Keefe, John McCormick and Jim White, former St. Louis Cardinals play-by-play announcers Jack Buck, Harry Caray and France Laux, and former St. Louis Blues play-by-play announcer Dan Kelly. KMOX will also pay tribute to the station’s “Hillbilly Music Era” from the 1930s through 50s, which it said its “National Champion Hillbillies” helped shape American entertainment, championed Midwest culture and established KMOX as a station for every listener. The pioneers are also being recognized with an online tribute featuring airchecks and other multimedia in partnership with the St. Louis Media History Foundation.
